Sandals Resorts in the Montego Bay region recently welcomed almost 100 students from the Mount Alvernia High, Montego Bay High and Anchovy High schools in support of its ongoing Tourism in Schools programme- one of its community outreach initiatives geared towards creating opportunities for learning and exposing students to the hospitality industry.

Sandals Resorts’ Regional Public Relations Manager, Khadine Daley speaks with a portion of the students from Mount Alvernia High School about opportunities within the hospitality industry.

The programme provided for a visit to the flagship resort; Sandals Montego Bay as well as its sister property; Sandals Royal Caribbean where the students were not only informed of the plethora of job prospects in the hospitality industry but given in depth tour of the resort led by the various heads of departments. Here, they were enlightened about the operations of the resort’s kitchen, bar, restaurants, spa and engineering department among others.

The students- most of whom were also members of the Tourism Action Club- expressed an interest in the hospitality industry.  Sandals Royal Caribbean’s Assistant Manager of Sales, Theressa Hemans conveyed that the resort expands far beyond guest services, hinging also on specialists such as public relations practitioners, nurses and environmentalists that are all necessary for the efficient functioning of the resort.

The Sandals Resorts is committed to creating educational opportunities that encourage students to reach their full potential.
