In observance of World Oceans Day, Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril treated students from Broughton Primary School in Westmoreland to a day of fun activities surrounding the benefits gained from the ocean; the importance of taking care of our water bodies, and the ‘world under the sea’. Students were given a glass-bottom boat tour by the Beaches Negril watersports team and the Sandals Negril environment, health, and safety team, and further educated on the different types of fish and the importance of the coral reef. Following the tour and lunch, the students were engaged by Beaches Negril’s Kids Camp counselors in a ‘paint what you saw at sea today’ session, which was an exciting experience for not only the children but also the Negril team members, as both had the chance to explore their creative sides and recall all they had learnt from the day’s activities.
Beaches Negril playmaker, Shyanne Miller (center) took on the job as mermaid for World Oceans Day and was pleased to strike a pose with grade 4 students from Broughton Primary School, as they proudly showed off their paintings.

Broughton Primary student, Sonia Spence was engrossed with her tools as she painted a sea of blue with the Beaches Negril Kid’s Camp team. The craft activity got the students excited to share in their own creative way, their experience from the day’s activities.
