Close to 400 children at Culloden Early Childhood Institution and Kings Primary in Westmoreland have started the new school year with a generous donation of reading books, educational games and learning manipulatives for their school library. The donation was made possible by the Sandals Foundation through the Reading Road Trip tours which is operated by Island Routes®. The programme invites guests of Sandals and Beaches Resorts to donate literacy resources and participate in reading sessions at local kindergarten and primary schools. This year, in keeping with the Sandals Foundation’s focus on increasing environmental awareness and education, the books explore topics of composting, proper solid waste management, water consumption and marine protection in a fun and engaging way. Both schools were presented with the resources earlier this week by Sandals South Coast Public Relations Manager, Rochelle Forbes. The schools are also engaged in environmental programmes spearheaded by the Sandals Foundation, namely, the Whitehouse Waste Separation Programme and the re-usable container school programme.
