“After almost 20 years of training, developing, guiding and mentoring young thespians, I feel it is time to share my he(ART) and Soul.”
These are the words of an excited but nervous Suzanne Beadle, as she prepares to bear her soul in her first independent, commercial theatre production entitled “70×7: the Real Truth”. She has had much success as the drama, theatre arts and performing arts teacher at Ardenne High School, leading the school in winning several top medals, awards and honours in the JCDC Festival of the Performing Arts Competition. Suzanne is also a member of Family Word and Worship, where she has responsibility for the Performing Arts Ministry.
Not only has she seen success as a teacher, but as an Actor Boy-nominated director, producer, actress, singer and playwright. Suzanne has had her fair share of acting, playing roles in Dreamgirls, Jonkunnu Jamboree, Thicker Than Water and most recently in The Trial of Governor Eyre. She is ready to take her craft to the next level and stand proud as one of the few female directors and playwrights making moves in the local theatre fraternity. She is credited with consistently providing talent for the local theatre fraternity.
70 x 7: The Real Truth follows the journey of a Jamaican family towards forgiveness. When the Morgan family finds itself face to face with an unlikely villian, each member has to dig deep to forgive him, each other and themselves. “For me this is ministry. I want to do what I believe I am being called to do now in my life, share God’s message and to be able to be sustained by it,” says Suzanne as she reflects on her 20th year in theatre, having made her debut in Louis Marriott’s Sojey (1997); and if you ask why now? “It’s time; to borrow from TD Jakes and my pastor, Pastor Junior Tucker, I’ve been pregnant with possibilities and it’s now time to push.”
70×7: The Real Truth is written by Suzanne Beadle, directed by Mike Daley and stars Suzanne Beadle, Stephen-Rhae Johnson, Renae Williams, Kaleb D’Aguilar, Brian Maloney and Clayton McEwan. The play will have a limited run at the Phoenix Theatre in New Kingston for two weekends, March 3-5 and 10-12, 2017 with a Gala Presentation on Saturday, March 4.
