The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) proudly presents, Young Entrepreneur: Own Your Future – a conference and networking event, which is set to take place at the Courtleigh Auditorium (8 St. Lucia Ave, Kingston) on January 21, 2017 at 9:30 AM.

The featured guest is Thione Niang – a social entrepreneur, political strategist, youth advocate, author, founder of the Give1Project, co-owner of Akon Lighting Africa and an advisor to Barack Obama. Thione’s personal journey is a testament to the power of dreaming big. Raised in a family of 28 in Senegal, West Africa, he immigrated to the United States at the age of 21, with only $20 in his name, no family, and very limited English. He worked in restaurants, cleaning tables, while saving to eventually earn a college degree. This event is intended to be epic, as this will be his first time talking to a crowd in Jamaica.

Other guest speakers include the Honourable Floyd Green (Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information), Valrie Grant (Founder of GeoTechVision and the Commonweath Woman Entrepreneur of the Year) and Nicole Campbell (Founder of AIMS Educational Services).

Young Entrepreneur: Own Your Future will serve to empower entrepreneurs and business people with motivational discussions that will stimulate them towards building a successful future. The objective is to unlock the potential of young entrepreneurs by addressing the challenges they face, and by motivating them to play an integral role in their communities. In addition, the event aims to contribute to Vision 2030 by supporting entrepreneurship and innovation in Jamaica, and help contribute to nation building and an attitudinal change in Jamaican entrepreneurs.
